1/27: Misha, Wolfgang, Lewis, Elmore, Donna, Rosamund, and James

One of the greatest, perhaps the greatest male dancer of all time (so far) was born on this day. Here, in a pas de deux he choreographed for his legendary partner, Gelsey Kirkland. I love how this version actually means something beyond the customary pas de deux.

And then there’s Mozart. I love Bergman’s Magic Flute so much, and I love this duet perhaps most of all.

A fabulous resource for all sorts of Lewis Carroll things over at Open Culture, including the amazing version of Alice illustrated below.

Donna Reed is so underrated, and so pretty in It’s a Wonderful Life.

And Rosamund Pike is just as pretty no matter where she is.

Do you have the blues? Well, you don’t have ’em as badass as Elmore James does.

Closing with a dance worthy of celebrating just about anything, including the marvelous James Cromwell.
